The Election Commission (EC), which launched its ‘special intensive amendment’ of Bihar’s electoral rolls this week, said on Saturday that out of a total of 7.89 crore voters in the state, 4.96 crore, which was on the role on January 1, 2003, will only have to fill and present the new calculation form. This means that the remaining 2.93 crore or about 37 percent of the electors will have to submit documents to establish citizenship, in addition to the form, to stay on the role, according to the EC order issued on June 24.

EC said in a statement on Saturday, “Of the current 7,89,69,844 voters, 4.96 crore voters, whose names are already in the final intensive amendment of the electoral rolls at 01.01.2003, will only have to be verified, they have to be verified, filling the form of calculation and presenting it.”
