Two Chinese citizens have been arrested from the Jatahi-Piparun border in Madhubani district of Bihar after taking pictures in No-Man’s land area along the Indo-Naple border late Wednesday evening.

“Two Chinese individuals have been arrested under the Foreigners Act 1946. During the inspection, no valid Indian entry documents or visa were found with Chinese citizens. They were questioned by the district police and SSB teams,” SP Kumar said.

During interrogation, Chinese citizens allegedly claimed “clicking on pictures” and said they were taking pictures “out of curiosity” on Indian soil. Both have been sent to judicial custody.

“During the initial interrogation, it was revealed that he was traveling in Nepal. One of them has been living there for the last few months, and the other met him (there). His visa, passport, and identity is being verified and further legal action will be taken.

The SP said, “During our preliminary investigation, we found some pictures taken near the border on their mobile phone.” The officer denied reports that anti -India videos and pictures were found on the phone of the suspects.

“Chat on his phone, however, we are in Mandarin. So we are investigating the case from all possible angles. A proper investigation of his phone will be done by technical teams and further action will be taken on the basis of conclusions. We will also take them on remand for further inquiries, and if necessary, we also want help from other agency.”

The official said two Chinese citizens were found to be found to film and photograph the Indian side of the border. Police have recovered three mobile phones, one power bank, watch, Nepal currency note, a small black wireless microphone, a bracelet similar to Rudraksha, a bottle of Khadi Ayurveda oil, a white printed handbag, a data cable and a gold-off locket.

Officials are currently trying to establish the objectives and activities of both individuals, the officials said.

SP Yogendra Kumar also said, “Since Operation Sindoor, patrolling the border areas of the district, which shares about 100 km international border with Nepal, has been intensified with more district forces deployed to assist SSB. With today’s arrest, three Chinese citizens have been arrested.”
