A few hours after the acid attack of a woman in Sonamura Nekan Nagar in Sepahijala district of Tripura, the police on Monday filed the first information report (FIR) against three people, suspecting her involvement in the incident.
Authorities identified the injured woman as 26 -year -old Run Begum. Her husband works abroad. They have a child.
According to Sipahjala police, three people were believed to have allegedly thrown acid on the woman by residents of a nearby village when she left the house on Sunday night to relieve herself. Officials said she maintains burn injuries on her hands and feet, and was taken to a local health center from where she was later transferred to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital in Agrala.
A senior police officer in Sonamura said, “We have registered a case against three people. No one has been arrested so far. According to our preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the incident happened due to previous hostility.”
In a similar incident, a person faced severe burning injuries after her mother aunt allegedly threw acid at her, she was suspected to be a thief in Dharamanagar in North Tripura district two weeks ago. Police said two separate cases were registered in view of the incident: one against man, 27 -year -old Sushant, to enter the house late at night, and the other against his maternal uncle and aunt.
