B. Ajit Kumar was questioned on 27 June on a theft complaint, including the missing gold from the parked car of a devotee in the Madapuram Badrakliman temple, where he worked as a guard. According to the Tamil Nadu police, the arrested personnel include the head constable Kannan of Pajayanur police station and the head constable of Manmurai police station, Grade I Constable Raja (Puvandi PS), Anand (Shivganga Traffic Police), and Sankarakamikamathan (Tirupuvanam PS). A sixth policeman, Ramachandran, a driver, has been suspended from service, but has not been arrested.
The Madurai Peeth of Madras High Court rapidly criticized the delay in police action. A judicial inquiry is going on. Officials have indicated that the case may be replaced for murder, the final post -mortem report may be pending.
