Tipra Motha founder Pridot Kishore Manikya Debarma announced on Saturday that the Election Commission (EC) has invited a delegation of its party to New Delhi to discuss the issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh.

In a post on X, Pridot Kishore said, “After constant uproar with Tipra Motha and attracting the media attention, India’s Election Commission has invited us to discuss the issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh on 23 July from Bangladesh …”

He also said, “My only answer to all those who criticize us – at least we are trying to protect our next generation and look beyond party politics. This is not just a fight for Tipra Motha Party, but every Indian fight. Please rise above party politics and unite against illegal migration.”

A spokesman for Tipra Motha announced that the party would send a nine -member team led by the Pridot to meet EC officials. Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma recently said that although BJP ruled states like Assam and Gujarat have taken strong steps against illegal migrants, the Tripura government had yet to do so.

The invitation to the EC also comes a few days later when Producer Kishore demanded a special intensive amendment (SIR) of a Bihar-style in Tripura, alleging that the score of Bangladeshis bought illegal cards in the northeastern state along with corrupt government officials.

Meanwhile, it has been discovered that the state government has decided to create a task force in each district to detect illegal migrants and deport them. Each task force will be led by a senior police officer, while the officers of various police stations of the concerned district will be in charge.
