Police said that eight people drowned in Banas river in Tonk district of Rajasthan on Tuesday.
Three other people were rescued and their condition is stable, the Superintendent of Police, Tonk, Vikas Sangwan said.
He said that a group of 11 men aged 25 to 30 entered the river to bathe when they slipped into deep water.
“He was taken out and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared eight of them dead,” he said.
The SP said that it was not immediately clear how they slipped into deep water.

The deceased came from Jaipur for a picnic, he said.
