The Commander and four members of the restricted terrorist group, the Tritiya Conference Committee (TSPC), was arrested by the police on the night of June 12 by the police during a search operation in Taraheta One in Hazribagh, Jharkhand.
On June 12, the police came to know around 9 pm that some TSPC members were planning an attack, Superintendent of Police Anjani Anja said. A joint operation was carried out with the help of armed forces and anti-Naxal branches under the leadership of Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amit Anand.
The police suspected that the arrested persons were involved in the June 1 incident in the Keraeri area of Hazribagh. TSPC members set two trucks on fire near a mining company’s site and overtaken a letter signed by a “Kaushal ji”. The letter warned of “results” if companies refused to start a dialogue with the group. One seat was already investigating the case.
Police recognized one of the arrested persons as Awadhesh Kumar alias Prashant ji (Palamu district), who is a commander of a TSPC area. Kumar has also been named in several criminal cases registered in Catakamasandi and Katkamdag police stations. The other four arrested are Aditya Ganjhu, Deven Ganju, and Dharma Ganjhu (Chatra); And Ropal Ganju of Masuria (Hazribagh).
Police also recovered an AR-15 M4 American carbine rifle, a magazine, three country-made firearms, a country-made pistol of 7.62 mm, live cartridges of various calibers, nine mobile phones and pamphlets.
