Appreciating the “excellent” works of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that India has become a global leader in the field of disaster management. Today, the approach is to achieve the goal of zero casualties, he said.
Shah was addressing a conference of relief commissioners and disaster response forces in all states and center areas. “In the last 10 years, NDMA, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and CDRI (alliance for disaster flexible infrastructure) have strongly deployed India to become a global leader in the field of disaster management,” he said.
In addition, Shah said: “Whenever the history of India’s disaster response is written, the last 10 years of the Modi government will be recorded as a transformational decade. In these 10 years, we have made significant achievements in all four areas – capacity, efficiency, speed and accuracy.”
About this National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA),He said that it has effectively executed policy, subject structure, research work, spread of various exercises for the public, development of many applications and overall coordination and policy-related work.
Shah said that in the last two years, workshops and meetings of all agencies related to relief and disaster management have been worked to create a platform of ideas with full government approach.
“When the heads of all disaster relief teams discuss the same platform, many shortcomings are removed and the country also benefits in getting ready to deal with the disaster,” he said.
The Home Minister also suggested that every year, some districts and tehsils sensitive to disasters should be included in this conference so that the national level disaster management gradually reaches the tehsil and district level and also praised the role of NDMA, also said that these policy, subject structure, research work, coordination for development, are composite, research work, research work, broadcasting, and many kinds.
