TMC, CPI (M) seeks boosters in Bengal, Kerala; BJP, AAP look to maintain Gujarat, Punjab seats. Bharat News

On Thursday, five assembly seats in four states will vote in Bapol.

Trinumool Congress (TMC) and CPI (M) are looking at Bipols in West Bengal and Kerala, where they are in power respectively, as the forerunners of the assembly elections have been slated in their states next year.

The BJP wants to maintain its old stronghold in Gujarat, but it is also hoping to get another seat where AAP is constantly growing. In Punjab, the ruling AAP is facing a challenge not only from the Congress but also the BJP.

The results are out on 23 June.

Nilambur (Kerala)

Here bypoll was required by the resignation of CPI (M) -Backed Independent PV Avar. The Congress, which lost the seat in 2021 by 2,700 votes, has given a tough challenge, nominating the old-timer Aryadan Shokath. CM Pinarayi Vijayan has handed over to M. Swaraj as CPM candidate.

Kaliganj (West Bengal)

In the 2021 assembly elections, TMC leader Nasiruddin Ahmed won Kaliganj by 46,987 votes against BJP’s Abhijeet Ghosh. This was Ahmed’s second win from the seat. Ahmed died in February this year after Heart’s arrest. His daughter Alifa Ahmed is now competing with Bipol on TMC ticket. She is taking BJP’s Ashish Ghosh and Congress’s Kabil Udin.

Campaigns have been organized. The BJP has targeted TMC on the riots in Murshidabad. And TMC has accused the BJP of communal polarization.

Visvdar (Gujarat)

In Gujarat’s Junagadh district, Vishwadar AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayini became vacant after joining the ruling BJP. Bhayini is not contesting the seat, the BJP fielded a cooperative leader and a former district party president Kirit Patel. AAP has fielded Gopal Italia, one of the faces of Patidar movement in the state.

Kadi (Gujarat)

In the 2022 elections, BJP’s Karsanbhai Punjabi Solanki won 53.45% of the total votes. Congress came in second place.

After Solanki’s death in February, the SC-Regent seat was vacant. The BJP has fielded Rajendra Kumar Daneshwar Chavada, while the Congress has nominated Rameshbhai Chavada. AAP has fielded Jagadibhai Ganpatbhai Chavada here.

Ludhiana West (Punjab)

This by -election was needed from the death of AAP’s Gurpreet Bassi Gogi. It has fielded industrialist and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora. AAP’s top brass including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia has campaigned. The Congress has fielded Bharat Bhushan Ashu and it seems that traction is happening.
