An official said a woman died on Friday in Churachandpur district of Manipur when security forces started operations against firing in a foothill area below.

“Today, at around 3:00 pm, a Cultimator of Fubala Avang Manning Leicai, a Ningthozam Biran Singh, was shot in his left hand by an unknown armed Kupay, while working in his paddy area in Fubala Manning. According to the police, the deceased was likely to be killed in a crossfire during this discovery operation.

Cookie-Zo groups in Churachandpur have identified the deceased woman as Hoiholing, who was the wife of the head of the Langchingmanb village in Churachandpur district.
