The airline said in a statement that Air India canceled eight flights, citing four international services, on Friday, increased maintenance and operational reasons.
The statement said that the airline is making alternative arrangements for passengers to fly at their respective sites at the earliest.
International flights canceled:
- AI906 from Dubai to Chennai
- AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne
- AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi
- AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad
Domestic flights canceled:
- AI874 from Pune to Delhi
- AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi
- AI-2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai
- AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai
The statement said that the airline company has offered a complete refund on cancellation of passengers or renovation.
Following the last tragic accident of an Air India Boeing 787 in Ahmedabad, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directed the airline to conduct additional maintenance inspections at all 33 of its 787. The ailing aircraft was operating a flight between Ahmedabad and London Gatvik and the board had 242 people. All but one of them died in an accident. There were many casualties on the ground too.
