Human smugglers arrested in Sepahijla district of Tripura | Bharat News

A human trafficking was arrested today in Dudhpukur under Kalamachaura police station in Sapahjala district.

The arrested person was identified as Sharif Mia, a resident of Dudhpukur. He was arrested during a joint raid by the Agartala government Railway Police, Local Police and Border Security Force.

“He wanted in a case. We raided his house several times, but he was absconding. We came to know that he is currently at his house and launched a joint campaign to arrest him. We presented him in court today and demanded police remand for him,”, said an officer in charge of Aagartla Government Railway Police Station Tapas Das.

The police officer said that in the initial interrogation, he accepted his participation in the case, however, the police is investigating to find out if there was any participation in other cases, the police officer said.

A few days ago, two persons, including a Bangladeshi National and an Indian human smuggler, were arrested from two different places in Tripura.

Smuggling, resident of Chanipur in West Tripura district, was arrested during a joint operation conducted by Agartla Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), local police station and other sister agencies.

A series of arrests of Bangladeshi and Rohingya persons have come in different parts of Tripura, especially at Agrala railway station.

According to a Tripura Police report, 816 Bangladeshi nationals, 79 Rohingya persons and two Nigerians were arrested from 1 January 2024 to 28 February this year.

Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha, who also holds home portfolio, recently informed that 2815 Bangladeshi citizens were arrested from 2022 to 31 October, 2024 to cross the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura, out of which 1746 have been pushed back into their country and 1069 others have been shaken even though the holidays.

Tripura shared an 856 km international border with Bangladesh, including land -based and river -border, most of which are covered with thorny wire fence, except for a few patch except which are still uncontrolled due to local disputes.
