Describing Operation Sindoor as a “natural progress” of the 2016 surgical strike and the 2019 air strike, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday warned Pakistan that it will have “very serious consequences” for any terrorist attack on Indian land.
Addressing the soldiers at the Northern Command Headquarters in Udampur, Jammu and Kashmir, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, Singh said, “We have shown Pakistan through Operation Sindoor that its thousand cut policy against India is not going to be successful. India is fully ready to take action against terrorism.”
He said that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam was not only an incident of terrorism, but social and communal unity was also targeted from the border. He said, “We not only thwarted their plans, but also retaliated, brought Pakistan to their knees, and then only Operation Sindoor was suspended by us,” he said.
Singh insisted that Operation Sindoor was “not only a vengeance” for the Pahalgam terror attack. Singh said, “We told Pakistan through it that it will not be tolerated to continue terrorist attacks against India … that the result is going to deteriorate.”
After the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April, in which 26 people were killed, India carried out Operation vermilion on the night intervening on May 6 and 7, destroying the terrorist infrastructure at various places in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir.
Recalling the contributions made by Somnath Sharma, head of army officers Somnath Sharma and Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Rajnath Singh said, “Pakistan wants to weaken India from inside, but should not forget that Major Somnath Sharma gave his life for the unity and integrity of India, Brigdier Usman has sacrificed his life like Brigadier Usman.”
Furious by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Singh said that yoga means “united” and someone should take it in its true sense. “Yoga means united all sections of society with the culture and soul of India,” he said, leaving any section would mean breaking the unity and security of India.
