A 10 -year -old girl was allegedly tortured by her neighbors by burning her face with a warm iron rod on Sunday in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone.
Police in Indukurupat Mandal in Nellore detained at least two people in connection with the alleged torture of a girl living with her aunt in a Scheduled Tribes (St.) Colony. Other neighbors heard the cry of the girl when she was allegedly burning her cheek with a warm iron rod. They rescued him and called the police before transferring him to a government hospital, where he was given treatment and he was discharged.
“The girl refused to go to the neighbor’s house, let a phone stealing, and claimed innocence. We have registered an FIR and detained two people for questioning,” said an official of the Indukurupat police station.
