A court here on Monday extended judicial custody for 14 days of social media, arrested last month on suspicion of espionage.
The Hisar Police on 16 May launched a Youtube channel ‘Travel with Joe’ on suspicion of espionage. On suspicion of espionage from Hisar, YouTuber was arrested in the new Aggarsain expansion and booked under the provisions of the official formation Act and Bharti Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Malhotra’s lawyer Kumar Mukesh said, “His judicial remand has been extended for 14 days and the next date of hearing has been decided by the court on 7 July.” The 33-year-old Youtuber appeared before the court through video-conferencing, he said.
Earlier on 9 June, another court here rejected his regular bail plea.
The police had opposed the bail and argued that the investigation in the case was still going on.
After his arrest on 16 May, Malhotra was sent to five days police custody by the court.
After the completion of the remand, the court increased the custody for four days after the police demanded the police to question him further.

On 26 May, the court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days, which was later carried forward.
Hisar police had earlier said that Malhotra had no evidence to reach any military or rescue information, but claimed that she was in contact with some people, knowing that he was a Pakistani intelligence operator.
Police sources had earlier said that she was in contact with Ehsan-ur-Rim alias Danish, an employee of the Pakistani High Commission since November 2023.
India expelled Danish on 13 May to join the espionage.
