'We heard the blasts, then windows shaken': Indians in Qatar recalled Iran's missile strike. Bharat News

A 36-year-old resident of Bin Mahmud in Doha in Qatar told The Indian Express late Monday night, “All this ended,” as he described the barrage of the Iranian missiles targeting Al Udid Air Base in the southwest of the capital.

“First, we heard the blasts – four to five. Then the windows were shaken,” the Indian resident who has been said to Kerala. He said, “This is the first time when Doha has felt insecure,” he said, he has been in the capital of Katri for more than 10 years.

In another neighborhood, nearby, Indian residents were staring at the debris that fell near their house, guessing that these were “missile pieces”. A resident, who did not wish not to identify, said, “First we heard a big explosion and then pieces of something fell near our house.” Residents are taking videos of these items. “We are sending it back home to our families in Kerala. It’s scary.”

Another resident said that since the enmity is at the peak between Iran and Israel, “people are storing essential items … as if something unpleasant is expecting”. He said that there are queues in supermarkets in Doha for the last few days.

Qatar is a country where more than 8 lakh Indians live and work. The Indian Embassy in Doha said, “In view of the ongoing situation, the Indian community in Qatar is urged to be vigilant and stay inside the house. Please keep calm and follow the local news, instructions and guidance provided by the Katri officials. The embassy will also keep updating through our social media channels.”

The Indian community is the largest migrant community in the country, one of the highest per capita income in the world.

“We want the situation to be resolved in peace soon. Qatar has been at home for a long time; we cannot leave everything back,” said another resident.

Condemning the attack on the US airbase in his country, Qatar has said that it has successfully stopped the missiles, and no casualties were done, the Reuters said. It also said that its airspace was now safe. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait have also closed their airplanes.
