Instead, Nilambur has now become the fourth by -election defeat for LDF under his government.
The Nilambur constituency comes within the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat represented by Priyanka Gandhi of the Congress. Shalutat got 44.17% vote share, while Swaraj received 37.88%. In the 2021 elections, LDF voted 46.9% votes and UDF 45.34%.
In the 2021 assembly elections, independent candidate P Anwar won Nilambur, supported by the Left. This time after failing to get a Congress ticket, he entered Neellambur Bipol as a nominated Trinumool Congress. The wider difference between the winner and the nearest rival in Bipol is mainly attributed to Anwar to 11.23% of the votes.
