It has come since the Grand Old Party (Congress) on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency during the Emergency by the then Indira Gandhi -led government.

In a statement, Congress general secretary in charge of communication, Jairam Ramesh alleged that the Modi government is “weakening the Parliament” and has constantly reduced parliamentary norms. MPs, who have raised only issues of public anxiety, have been arbitrarily suspended. He said, “Major legislations are bulldoned. Parliamentary committees have been passed.”

The Congress leader accused the government of spreading “unbridled vulgar language” and “a rift on civil freedom”.

The statement said during these 11 years, the ruling establishment opposing the farmers was labeled as “Khalistanis”, and the caste census lawyers were rejected as “urban Naxalites”. He claimed, “Mahatma Gandhi’s killers are glorified. Minorities live for fear of their lives and property. Groups of Dalits and other margins have been inconsistently targeted, and the disgusting ministers have been rewarded with promotion,” he claimed.

Ramesh’s comment was when the government visited ‘Samvidan Hatya Diwas’ to mark the emergency anniversary. He also accused the BJP of using money power to top the opposition -led state governments. He said, “The Governor’s office has been misused to block bills in opposition ruled states and intervene in university appointments. The Center has crossed constitutional fiscal arrangements to deprive constitutional fiscal systems to deprive its correct revenue stake and bypassing constitutional fiscal systems,” he said.

In another series of attacks, the Congress General Secretary claimed that “the Election Commission of India’s integrity has been severely compromised.” He said, “Poll timing and Charan are ready to benefit the ruling party. The Commission has been silent in front of the Prime Minister and the divisive rhetoric from the Prime Minister and senior BJP leaders,” he said.

He said that investigative agencies including ED, CBI and Income Tax Department have been “misused” to harass and discredit opposition leaders. He said, “Those who change parties and join the BJP automatically become Ed-MC and CBI-product,” they alleged.
