The Election Commission of India on Tuesday allocated a “school bag” as a general election symbol for Prashant Kishore’s life Suraj Party for the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections prescribed later this year.
Welcoming the Election Commission’s decision, “Our entire focus is on education and employment, and that’s why the school bag is our election symbol.” “During the 35 years of Lalu-Natish regime, the school bag has been removed from the back of the children of Bihar and a sack of labor is tied on them”.
Kishore said that Jan Suraj believes that education is the key to ending poverty, generating employment and curbing migration from Bihar. “Education is the biggest tool to eradicate poverty in Bihar,” he said, emphasizing that the symbol of the party reflects its main priorities.
Jan Suraj, which was formally launched by Kishore in October 2024 after his two -year -old deeds across Bihar, announced a plan to contest all 243 assembly seats, he has kept himself as an alternative to established parties like Janata Dal (United), Rashtri Janata Dal (RJD), and Congress.
The party has announced the intention of fielding candidates in each assembly constituency, including at least 40 women. The party has denied any pre -or later alliance, aiming to present itself as a separate political option in Bihar’s traditionally polarized scenario.
Along with Jan Suraj, the Election Commission has also allocated general symbols for seven other “registered but non -recognized parties” for the 2025 Bihar Poll – Bharatiya Sarathak Party (scissors), Lohia Janta Dal (Bucket), Rashtri Lok Morch (Gas Cylinder) socialist (flute), and Rashtriya Samajwadi Lok Adikar Party (Ring).
According to the Commission’s order, these symbols are valid only for the upcoming election and can be allocated as free symbols for independent candidates in the constituencies where the respective parties do not do the candidates.
