Jammu: Nine people trapped in Tawi survived. Bharat News

Nine people trapped in the Tawi river were rescued by the Jammu -Kashmir Police and the State Disaster Response Force on Thursday due to its sudden rise in its water level.

The rescued was a 52-year-old-lberger, who went to remove sand from the river bed. Eight others, including those who went to perform religious rituals for their dead ancestors.

Traffic along the Jammu-Srinagar highway was also disrupted for about three hours, when Madslides began with heavy rains and blocked the road in Mehd and T2 tunnel in Ramban. Traffic was restored after the removal of barriers by road clearing agencies.

Officials said that there is a possibility of light rains at many places in Jammu province, officials said, “There is a possibility of heavy rains in some places till Friday.”
