A wild adult male tiger who wandered into a residential area in Ranchi district of Jharkhand and entered a house successfully pacified and transferred to Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) after one hour of rescue by forest officials.
The tiger was seen by a child under the Silli block of Ranchi in Mardu village on Wednesday morning who quickly ran back to his house. Officials said the tiger chased him.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) of Jharkhand Paritosh Upadhyay told The Indian Express Around 6.30 pm, the Forest Department received information from a field staff and a local checker, monitoring the movements of the animal.
“Preliminary reports indicated that the tiger had taken shelter in someone’s house. It was later confirmed that the animal entered Purandar Maho’s house after seeing a bamboo cluster behind the house,” said Upadhyay.
According to officials, the incident came to light at around 4.35 am when a family child saw tigers near the bamboo grove. Fearful, the child went inside the house, and the family closed the door. However, the tiger jumped through a window.
The official said, “There was no proper latch, so they manually closed the door. A window remained open in the room. The plan was planned to escape the main door if the tiger entered through the window – and that is actually happened,”

The forest staff reached the village by 10 am. Considering the aggressive nature of the animal and the risk to human life, a decision was made to calm and catch it.

Rescue cages and veterinary teams were collected from both the local range and Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR). Upadhyay said, “Soon after the installation of a mesh cage in the room entry, Tiger recorded it in an attempt to get out. It was entertained immediately after.”
Forest officials said the tiger was a man and was four to five years old. He said that it was a wild tiger, not a zoo animal. Upadhyay said, “It is a wild animal that was previously recorded through a camera net. It is believed that it entered Jharkhand from Chhattisgarh a few years ago.”
The tiger was photographed several times in both Palamu and Pantma Wildlife Sanctuary. For more than a month, however, it was inaccessible until it was seen in the Mardu. “We had sometimes signs, pugmarks and local reports, but recently there was no confirmation of the camera-trap,” the official said.
Once calmed down, the tiger was transferred to PTR, where it has been released safely.

“This defense reflects the increasing frequency of wild animals entering human places and the importance of strong monitoring and conservation corridors,” Upadhyay said.
