Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Shubhanshu Shukla on Saturday, Indian astronauts are currently riding as part of the Axiom-4 mission at the International Space Station (ISS).
Shukla made history on Wednesday as he launched a private commercial spaceflight run by the US-based Axiom Space, as part of the Axiom-4 mission.
“You are the farthest away from India, but the closest to the hearts of Indians. Your journey marks the beginning of a new era,” during the historic video interaction, the PM told the group captain Shukla, in response, Shukla said, “This is not only my journey, but also of our country. I feel proud to represent India.”

Shukla, along with three other international astronauts, left for ISS Onboard SpaceX’s dragon capsule from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on 25 June as part of the Axiom-4 mission.
This mission has first come into space since the legendary flight of Rakesh Sharma, an Indian astronaut in a Russian Soyuz spacecraft in 1984.
