'Block of girls involved in drug abuse: Tripura CM Manik Saha | Bharat News

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday reiterated that the state government has a zero-oppression policy towards activities related to medicine.

Speaking at a government program in Dhalai district, CM Saha said, “We have recently seen that a part of girls has become accustomed to drugs. The misuse of drugs through intravenous injections in the state is increasing. This exercise can give rise to the spread of HIV/AIDS.” He said that the state was also being used as a corridor for illegal drug trade.

The Chief Minister informed the audience that the Ministry of Development of the Central North Eastern Region (Donor) has approved Rs 198 crore for setting up a special de-addiction center at Bishramganj in Sipahjala district. Apart from this, the state government is also setting up D-Ediction Center in all eight districts of Tripura.

He said that in 2024-25 drug tours increased by 103 percent in comparison to the previous year and the destruction of drugs increased to 132 percent.

Meanwhile, CM Saha also said that his government will last year’s national liberation in front of the Central, State Government, and Rebel Organizations – Tripura (NLFT) and all Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) will honor the tripartite rebel surrender agreement signed by Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and fulfills the promises made to the surrender of the band militant groups.
