IMD forecast over normal rain in July, warning of urban floods, river violations. Bharat News

India Meteorological Department (IMD) can predict above normal rainfall during July on Monday which can lead to urban floods and violations in river valleys.

The Met Department said that Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will get heavy rains.

June-September south-west monsoon brings about 70% of the country’s annual rainfall. This is important for India’s economy – enabling agricultural activities including kharif sowing, and recharging groundwater and reservoirs.

During these four months, the highest rainfall usually occurs in July (long -term average 280.4 mm). This year’s July rainfall will be 106 percent of the long -term average.

Mrithayunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Director General of IMD Director General, said, “Most of the areas of the country will receive normal rainfall above normal rainfall in July, except for North Eastern and eastern India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, some neighboring areas of Jammu and Kashmir and North Gujarat in North Gujarat.

Similar to its anterior month, July-normal may experience the days of a low pressure system that can potentially lead to widespread rainfall in large areas. Generally, five low pressure systems develop in July.

With these low pressure systems, if the monsoon trough remains south of its normal position, it can increase rain on the southern peninsula, central region and waste coast, said IMD authorities. The wind passing through wind streams can trigger rain in Uttarakhand and hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh and neighboring areas of Haryana and Delhi.

IMD urged the chief, “The river basins will need to be monitored and special care must be taken to forecast the formation of the IMD low pressure system.”

With the forecast of the above normal rainfall in July, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be below normal, except the northeast and in addition to the southern regions.

This year, the South -West monsoon covered the entire country in June itself, nine days before its normal date of July 8. This is only the tenth time which has happened since 1960.
