No relation between Kovid vaccine and heart related deaths: Government | Bharat News

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah CobeThe Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday that comprehensive studies by ICMR and AIIMS have not established any connection between coronavirus vaccines and sudden deaths.

Siddaramaiah said on Tuesday that the “hasty approval and distribution” of the Kovid vaccine for the public could also be a cause of these deaths.

He urged everyone that if they have symptoms such as chest pain or difficulty in breathing, and urged to immediately visit the nearest health center for check-up.

The ministry said that sudden unexplained deaths have been investigated through several agencies in the country and these studies have decisively established that there is no direct connection between the Covid-19 vaccination and sudden deaths reports.

Studies conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirm that Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective in India, with extremely rare examples of serious side effects, it has been said.

The ministry said in a statement that sudden heart deaths may result in a wide range of factors, including genetics, lifestyle, pre-cloak conditions and post-covid complications.

ICMR and NCDC are working together to understand the causes behind sudden unexplained deaths, especially in young adults between the ages of 18 and 45.

To detect this, two complementary studies were performed using various research approaches-one based on previous data and another involves real-time investigation.

In the first study conducted by ICMR’s National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE), “India in India-aged 18–45 years of age in India-unprotected sudden death factor-a multi-centered matching case control study.” The statement said that the study was conducted in 47 tertiary care hospitals in 19 states and center areas from May to August 2023.

It saw people who appeared healthy, but suddenly died between October 2021 and March 2023.

Conclusions have decisively shown that covid-19 vaccination does not increase the risk of unexplained sudden deaths in young adults.

The second study called “Suddenly unexplained deaths” is currently being conducted with the funding of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and in collaboration with ICMR.

This is a possible study that aims to determine the common causes of sudden deaths in young adults. The statement said that the initial analysis of the study data indicates that a heart attack or myocardial infarction (MI) is the main cause of sudden death in this age group.

Importantly, no major changes have been observed in the pattern of causes compared to previous years. In most cases of unexplained death, genetic mutations have been identified as a possible cause of these deaths. The end results will be shared after the study is completed.

Together, both these studies provide a greater comprehensive understanding of sudden unexplained deaths in young adults in India.

It has also been found that the covid-19 does not appear to increase the vaccination risk, whereas, the role of underlying health issues, genetic tendency and risky lifestyle options plays a role in unexplained sudden deaths, stated in the statement.

The statement said, “Scientists have reiterated that the statements connecting Kovid vaccination with sudden deaths are false and misleading, and are not supported by scientific consent.”

Without decisive evidence, speculative claims reduced the risk of reducing public confidence in vaccines, which played an important role in saving millions of lives during epidemic.

Such unfounded reports and claims can contribute strongly to hear the vaccine in the country, which adversely affects public health.

The statement said that the government is committed to evidence-based public health research to protect the good of its citizens.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka had said that more than 20 people have died due to a heart attack in only one district of Hasan last month.

“The government is taking the matter very seriously. To identify the exact cause of these series of deaths and find solutions, a committee of experts has been formed under the leadership of Dr. Rabindranath, Director, Jaydev Institute of Cardiovskular Sciences and Research, and directed to submit a study report within 10 days,”
