Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a tour of five countries, reached Ghana on Wednesday on a two -day state visit, during which he will interact with the top leadership of the West African country and review a strong bilateral partnership.
In a special gesture, PM was received by Ghana President John Dramani Mahama at Kotoka International Airport and gave a guard of honor.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I am honored with the special gesture of President John Dramani Mahama for welcoming me at the airport. Our nations are ready to work together to strengthen our long -standing relationship and find out a new path for cooperation.”
Mea said, “This gesture reflects the strong and historical bonds of friendship between the two countries,” saying that the journey will deepen partnership and underlines India’s commitment to strengthen its engagement with Africa and global South partners.
This is an Indian PM’s first visit to Ghana in the last three decades.
Ghana is a valuable partner in the global South and plays an important role in the Economic Community of the African Union and the West African states, Modi said in his departure statement.
Modi said that he was ready to negotiate new windows of cooperation, including the areas of investment, energy, health, security, capacity building and development partnership, to deepen the historical relations of the two countries. “As a fellow democracy, it would be an honor for Ghana’s speaking in Parliament,” he said.

According to Mea, PM Modi will negotiate with the President of Ghana to review a strong bilateral partnership and discuss ways to increase it through economic, energy and defense cooperation.
From Ghana, Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on a two -day visit from July 3 to 4. PM will then visit Argentina from 4 to 5 July. In the fourth phase, Modi will travel to Brazil for the BRICS summit. On his way, he will stop in Namibia.
In the statement of his departure, the PM said that India shared deep roots, cultural and people associated with Trinidad and Tobago, saying that he would meet President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamla Pardi-Bishasar during his visit.
Regarding his visit to Argentina, he said, “Argentina is a prominent economic partner in Latin America and is a close aide in G20. I look forward to my discussions with President Xavier Milli.”

Regarding the BRICS Summit, he said, “As a founding member, India is committed as an important platform for the cooperation among the emerging economies for the BRICS. Along with this, we try to order a more peaceful, justified, appropriate, democratic and balanced multipler world order.”
On the occasion of the summit, he said that many world leaders will also meet. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, are not attending the summit.
He said, “I will travel to Bascilia for a bilateral state trip, which is the first time by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly six decades. The yatra will provide an opportunity to strengthen our close partnership with Brazil and work with my friend, President Luiz Inecio Lula Dr. Silva, which is on advancing the priorities of the global south.”
Regarding his Namibia visit, the PM said that he is eager to meet President Netbo Nandi-Naditwah and to do a new roadmap chart to cooperate.
