Bureaucrats go on a large scale leave on the attack of the officer, work in the offices of Odisha Government. Bharat News

Administrative work has been affected in Odisha government offices as senior officials have gone on a large scale in more than 20 districts for the last two days. Attack of a senior officer Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday.

As the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) and Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) officers are backbones, when it comes to providing public services in block, tehsil and district level government offices, their stir has ruled the demand for action against criminals.

On Monday, BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu, a senior OAS officer, was taken out of his room and attacked by a group of miscreants who asked the officer to apologize to BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan. While the police have so far arrested five persons including BMC Corporator Jenven Route, BJP’s Odisha unit has also suspended five of its workers, including the route, for their alleged involvement in the attack.

The Odisha Administrative Services Association, which announced a large-scale holiday, placed three “non-parasical” demands before the CM, including immediate arrest of BJP leader Pradhan. The members of the association also met Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and called a memorandum as “the main accused and kingpin” behind the attack.

The demand to arrest Pradhan took importance as he convicted the officer, Sahum on Tuesday, misbehaving with him and a BMC woman hygiene worker, who was attacked. He also condemned the attack.

The OAS Association demanded security for all field-level executive officers, including Tehsildars, Sub-collector, Block Development Officers and Executive Officers of Civil Bodies. It asked the state government for public condemnation of the incident.

Read in a memorandum by the association submitted to the Chief Secretary, “Given the widespread dissatisfaction of all the members of the association working across the state, it has been decided that all OAS officers will remain on leave until the demands are met,” read in a memorandum of the Association submitted to the Chief Secretary.

The OAS body said that such a Breedan Act has destroyed the morale of officers working across the state.

Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari urged the officials not to go on a large scale, given that Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra is currently going on in Puri, while some pockets in the northern districts are looking at flood -like conditions.
