Terrorism is called the enemy of humanity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the global community should unite to deny any shelter or place.

Addressing the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, PM Modi said, “Our two countries may vary in size and geography, but we are deeply aligned in our values. We are proud.

“Terrorism is an enemy of humanity. This very red house has seen itself the wounds of terror and innocent blood.

PM Narendra Modi, who arrived in the Caribbean nation on Thursday, was received by Trinidad and Tobago PM Kamla Persad-Bisasar. Modi said at Piaro International Airport, “People in India consider Prime Minister Kamala ji as the daughter of Bihar.”

Modi was honored with the order of ‘Trinidad and Tobago Republic’, which became the first foreign leader to receive the Caribbean country’s highest civilian honor.

The two sides signed the agreement on the Indian Studies Chair at the Pharmaceutical Sector, Indian Ed for Projects, Cultural Exchange, Sports, Diplomat Training and West Indies University.

The two countries are also working on a trade treaty and an investment treaty, which are partnership for the establishment of local drug manufacturing facilities, biotech parks, and telemedicine networks, a regional forensic science laboratory in the Caribbean nation, and implementing an disaster alert system in the island to strengthen the national emergency response.

Kamala Persad-Bisasar said, “As we move forward, we aim to expand our exports to India’s 1.4 billion consumers … We are also chasing a partial scope business agreement … and we are laying the foundation for a new bilateral investment treaty.”

“We want to partner with Indian pharmaceutical leaders for the establishment of local drug manufacturing facilities, biotech parks, telemedicine networks … India has also supported Jaipur Foot Camp, Marine Ambulance,” he said.

He expressed his desire to adopt India’s UPI system and cooperate on the Bharat Stack Tool like Aadhaar and Digi Locker.

“This journey is exceeding only diplomacy. It marks dawn in a new South-South partnership, based in shared history and is grounded with the purpose of looking forward,” said Kamala Persad-Bissar.

PM Modi said, “This is the time for us to work together, to give the global South its right seat in the right table. To ensure climate justice, so that the burden does not fall on those who have made the least contribution to the climate crisis. We consider Trinidad and Tobago as an important partner in this attempt.”

This is Modi’s first visit to the country as Prime Minister and Trinidad and Tobago since 1999 is the first Indian bilateral visit at the Prime Minister level.

PM Modi underlined that these special relations were based on fake history and cultural heritage by Indians coming to the country 180 years ago. He confirmed his commitment to deepen the bilateral partnership between India and Trinidad and Tobago.

Modi said that Trinidad and Tobago are not only a caricom partner for India, but also a significant partner globally. “Our cooperation is important for the whole global South,” he said.

The Caribbean community is a regional political and economic association of Caricom, 15 states and five affiliated members.

Modi said that he brought some water from the replica of the Ram temple and the Saryu River in Ayodhya.

He said, “I request Kamala ji (Prime Minister) to offer Ganga Dhara to the Saryu River and Maha Kumbh here. Can these holy water bless the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” he said.

Modi said that India is actively working on creating a broad database of the Girmitiya community. The community consisted of apprehensive laborers sent from British India to work on gardens in South Africa, Fiji, Mauritius and Caribbean Islands.

“Today, I am happy to declare that the OCI card will now be given to the sixth generation of Indian diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago. You are not only connected to blood or surname. You are related. India looks out for you, India welcomes you, and India hugs you,” he said.

After his visit, he will leave for the third-foot of Argentina’s 5-nation trip. From Port of Spain, he will travel to Buenos Aires. This will be the first bilateral visit in Argentina, an Indian Prime Minister in 57 years.

Argentina is a leading economic partner in Latin America and is a close aide in G20, and will meet President Xavier Milli on Saturday.
