Valley Swulars: Srinagar city sees the highest day temperature in 7 decades, Pahalgam CIMER also. Bharat News

The city of Srinagar recorded its highest day temperature in seven decades on Saturday, with a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam tourist resort recorded its highest day temperature.

It comes when the valley saw its hottest June in five decades.

The Meteorological Department said that the city of Srinagar recorded the third highest day temperature since 1892. In 1953, the city recorded a temperature of 37.7 ° C on the same day (5 July), slightly higher than Saturday’s temperature.

The highest temperature in Srinagar was recorded on July 10, 1946, when the city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius.

Met officials also said that the South Kashmir resort of Cocarnag recorded the second maximum temperature at 34 degrees Celsius. The highest last year was recorded on 28 July.

The rising temperatures in the initiative coincide with the annual Amarnath pilgrimage.

Talking before the Indian Express, director, Meteorological Department Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmed had said, “This was the hottest June since 1978. The average day temperature for June this year was between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius. It is above three degrees than normal.

The heat has forced the government to carry forward the summer holidays in educational institutions from two weeks to a month. While the schools were closed for summer breaks from June 23, higher education institutions were closed from June 25. Typically, the school was closed for summer holidays in the second week of July, while higher education institutions were closed in the first or second week of August. July and August are usually the hottest months in the valley.

The government said that before deciding, it would inspect the weather conditions whether schools have to be opened after the breakdown of summer or expand the holidays.
