Bihar BJP leaders are traveling to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana among other states who conduct interactive sessions with migrants who are registered as voters in Bihar and appeal to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the assembly elections.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is running this program in 25 districts, including Saharanpur, Noida, Chanduli, Kushi Nagar, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, where Bihar-origin people are in significant numbers. BJP leaders, including state and district party office-bearrs, former MLAs and MPs, are spending four to five days every month, holding meetings with BJP leaders, Bihari migrants, social media affected, NGOs and members of Chhath Puja Committee. The party has appointed a coordinator for every district to facilitate smooth communication between upcoming leaders and migrant voters. A co-collector of Bihar origin is also appointed.
In these meetings, Bihar BJP leaders talked about the development made by the NDA government in Bihar. “If you are up Karmabhoomi (Place of work), Bihar is yours Mere land (Motherland), “Is the mantra being used by BJP leaders to appeal to voters for their support.
“This program is part of the BJP’s ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ campaign, under which the party is reaching people of Bihar origin in different states. In UP, the program is being run in 25 districts. It will continue till Bihar elections,” Subhash Yaduvan, General Secretary of UP BJP and General Secretary of the campaign in the state. The Yaduvansh held a virtual meeting with Bihar BJP leaders on Saturday, which was scheduled to travel in the coming days.
According to BJP leaders, the estimated 2 crore people from Bihar have moved to states like UP, Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra in search of livelihood.
Sources said that in March this year, the BJP started meetings with Bihar-root people after seeing Bihar Diwas in various states. People of Bihar are invited to these programs, state-specific cuisine is served as BJP leaders perform their presentation. BJP leaders are also collecting contact numbers of visitors and their respective constituency details so that they can re -contact them during the election.
BJP national president JP Nadda addressed such a meeting in New Delhi, where he accused RJD governments in Bihar of bringing “Jungle Raj” to the state. He recently appealed to vote for the development of Bihar to vote for Delhi in the assembly elections.
Organizationally, BJP has divided Delhi into 14 district units. Santosh Ojha, president of the Purvanchal Morcha of BJP in Delhi, told The Indian Express that Bihar leaders visited all 14 district units in the national capital. However, he refused to divide the details of the agenda of these meetings.
On the controversy over the ongoing special intensive amendment (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, Ojha said that none of the Bihar-root people expressed any problem with EC practice in the state.
In Haryana, these meetings are being held in Sonepat, Gurugram, Pinipat and Faridabad districts, where a large number of workers in industries are from Bihar.
Faridabad BJP district president Pankaj Poojan Rampal said, “In these meetings, we are not asking people to vote, we are making them aware of the party’s policies and what the government is doing.”
He said that the party leaders of Bihar were having better communication with the migrants due to the connecting language. Former BJP’s Pataliputra MP Ram Kripal Yadav has visited Faridabad at least four times from April for interactive sessions. On 10 June, he held a meeting with Faridabad Purvanchal Seva Samiti. Haryana BJP has appointed convenor for these meetings in various districts.
