Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (July 7) addressed the BRICS Summit Planery Session on ‘multilateral, economic-financial matters and artificial intelligence’, which stressed the need to make BRICS more effective in a rapid multipuller world.
The Indian Prime Minister made four major suggestions to increase cooperation between BRICS nations.
1) Improvement in system to promote reliability:
PM Modi emphasized the need to improve the system to promote credibility while advocating improvised multilateralism. He also highlighted the importance of making demand-operated decisions, long-term financial stability and maintaining a healthy credit rating.
“First, emphasizes improving our own system so that our credibility is promoted when we ask for improved multilateralism. It is important to consider economic cooperation within the BRICS. BRICS should pay attention to demand-conducted decision making, long-term financial stability and a healthy credit rating while approved the projects through BRICS NDB.

2) Associate initiative:
He further suggested that the BRICS nations work together to meet the specific expectations and aspirations of the nations of the global South. He highlighted the BRICS Agricultural Research Forum established in India, stating that agricultural-bayotech, accurate farming and climate change can be a medium for sharing the best practices in adaptation. He also proposed to create BRICS Science and Research Repository, which he said that global south countries can also benefit.
3) flexible supply chain:
He emphasized the need to secure the supply chain for especially important minerals and technology and make the supply chain flexible. “Third, in addition to greater cooperation in important minerals and technology, we should focus on securing and creating their supply chains. It should also be ensured that any country does not use these resources only for its own interests or as a weapon,” he said.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of the responsible AI, saying that India believes as a tool to enhance human values and abilities in artificial intelligence and is directed by the mantra of ‘AI for All’. The Indian Prime Minister said, “India is actively using AI in many fields. We believe in AI rule, addressing concerns and encouraging innovation should be achieved by both,” said the Indian Prime Minister.
He further stated that Global South had many expectations from BRICS countries, and to fulfill them, there was a need to follow the principle of “lead by example”.
“India is fully committed to working shoulder to shoulder with all partners to achieve its shared goals,” he said.
