The ruling BJP government of Tripura announced on Sunday that it was Dr. Siyama will change the name of the town hall after Prasad Mukarji and will build a marble statue of the founder of Jaan Sangh in front of the building. Soon after, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced Mookerji on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary, CPI (M) opposed the move.
Speaking at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, Saha said that those who have made special contribution in their areas will be honored on the day of teachers in the name of Mooker, and plans to start an excellent award for those who have made outstanding contribution to social, political, national and administrative services next year.
Taking the X, the Chief Minister posted: “Dr. Simma Prasad Mukarji was a huge person in the protection of India’s sovereignty after independence. With remarkable abilities, prestige and intelligence, he dedicated his life to nation-building, refused to lead a self-centered existence.”
He also recalled the versatile roles of Mookerjee as “the first Industries Minister of India, Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University, Mayor of Calcutta, President of Hindu Mahasabha, and founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh” and said that his ideology remains relevant today and inspires citizens.
Saha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working according to Mookerjee’s vision and aims to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. “After taking charge in 2014, PM Modi has seen changes in the whole society … If our country walks in the path of development, what is it, what is it what they are doing.
He said that Mukarji’s opposition to the Nehru-Liaquat agreement-an agreement was signed in 1950 between the Minority Rights and Security between the governments of India and Pakistan, which was for his resignation from Nehru’s cabinet.
“The sacrifice of the visionary Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for India’s sovereignty and integrity remains a source of inspiration for every citizen of the country. He refused to compromise with injustice against the Nehru-Liyakat agreement, which resigned from the cabinet,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister also attended a program organized at the BJP State Headquarters to pay tribute to Mookerjee and later attended a door-to-door campaign in the aged Municipal Corporation, highlighting the success of the PM Modi-LED central government.
