Actor and Tamilga Vatri Vetri Kajham (TVK) President Vijay led his first public performance since entering politics on Sunday, by transferring Ajit Kumar’s Custodial Death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for “hiding behind the central government” at Chief Minister MK Stalin. The protest held at Swami Shivanand Salai in Chennai attracted hundreds of TV cadres and supporters.
Wearing a black shirt, Vijay, in the last four years, demanded justice for 24 alleged victims of custodial deaths in Tamil Nadu under the DMK rule. About 10,000 people attended the event.
Speaking in the performance, Vijay said: “There is nothing wrong in calling Ajit Kumar’s family sorry,” CM Stalin told the victim’s family. “So far, 24 persons have died in the police lock-up in your government. You should apologize to all 24 families. Similarly, you should compensate all 24 families”.
Public resentment has been expressed after indicating custodial torture, after a case of Ajit Kumar, a security guard at Madappuram Bathrakallium Temple in Shivganga district, 44 external injuries of a postmortem and internal bleeding in the brain, heart and stomach. Vijay questioned the DMK government’s decision to transfer the case to the CBI, which cited criticism of such steps during his time against Stalin.
Vijay convicts Stalin’s decision, “When the Satkulam Custodial Death case was transferred to the CBI, you called it an insult to the Tamil Nadu police. Now you are doing the same,” Vijay convicted Stalin’s decision. He said, “You said that the CBI BJP and RSS have a toy in the hands and still the same. You have transferred the matter to the CBI so that they only hide behind the central government.”

Taking a loud voice, Vijay announced, “There is a puppet in the hands of the CBI RSS and the BJP. Why are you hiding behind you by ordering a CBI inquiry into Ajit Kumar’s death?”
Criticizing what he described as an inactive response to the government for serious crimes, Vijay alleged: “There are many atrocities in your government. Ajit Kumar is interfering in the court, for the case of Anna University (rape), intervening in the court and interrogating the government. If the court is here to question, then why is this government?

He said, “There will be no answer to you because there is no answer to you. The best answer that you can expect is ‘sorry ma’,” he said, made fun of Stalin’s forgiveness and the DMK is branding the government “sorry, MAI Sarkar”. “This is a ‘sorry ma’ model of the government … TV will stand with people and force you to improve the situation. TV’s all necessary protests will protest.”
The protesters pursued Placards, who read that “we do not want to regret, but want justice,” and raised slogans demanding the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of the Madras High Court. He also urged the DMK government to issue a white paper while giving details of all 24 custodial deaths during his tenure.
Vijay had met families of 18 alleged victims at the party headquarters in Paniaur on Saturday and assured them that TVK would expand full legal support if he wanted to move forward against the government.
