When asked about his decision, Dave told The Indian Express: “I really had a great run as a lawyer. I started with just Rs 250 in a month and shared my first residence with a high court peon. After some time you feel that you have done enough. When things are getting spoiled, it is better to leave me at peak instead of leaving. I did not want to enter court with my hearing.

Dave has been the president of the Supreme Court Bar three times. His father, Justice Arvind Dave, was a judge in the Gujarat High Court,

Celebration offer

The senior advocate said that he has other passions that he would like to pursue. “Helping rural people in any way – housing, agriculture, education, something like this is my big passion, so music, golf, travel, and certainly have to spend time with my family. I have four cute grandchildren.”

He said that the decision was “very easy”. “Once you start feeling that you have done enough or you have enough in the profession and there is nothing you can contribute,” he said.

Dave said: “I have targeted around 500 cases and helped all kinds of people. I felt that now there is a younger generation of lawyers who are very good, they have handled young seniors and I am sure they will carry forward the fight and help people.”

He said that he spoke to his family before taking a decision. “He said wait for two years, complete 50. But I was not watching a milestone.”

The senior advocate said that he would continue writing pieces of opinion, and can teach in colleges or write a book. “But I will definitely not practice. I am neither visible nor advisors working nor mediation,” he said.
