On July 1, in his complaint, the student alleged that he was subjected to mental harassment by the accused, which threatened to fail him in some subjects and repeat him in a year, it is learned. She is alleged that she was harassing her ever since she denied the demand for sexual favor.
The accused, an assistant professor, has been arrested and suspended, and the state government has also suspended the principal of the college.
As the opposition BJD and the Congress raised heat on the ruling BJP, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited AIMS Bhubaneswar, where the student was admitted, and promised all possible help.
After writing the institute officials, the student also approached the police, who in return asked the institute to respond.

Balasore Superintendent of Police Raj Prasad said on Saturday that the police followed the case with the institute stating that it would submit the report within five days. When it did not come in five days, the police asked the institute again and it was said that it would be presented as soon as possible.
On Saturday, the student set himself on fire after moments of meeting the principal in his chamber, staging a dharna on the campus. According to CCTV footage, a group of students tried to save her. She was facing severe burning injuries.

With its position being extremely important, the eight-member expert committee has been formed to monitor treatment by Amaims Bhubaneswar. Meem’s director Ashutosh Biswas said that she maintains 90–95 percent burn injuries and is on ventilator support.
On Sunday, the student’s father alleged that the college officials were pressurizing him to withdraw his complaint. He said that he met the accused teacher in January, later stopped him from participating in classes, and requested him not to bother him.
He said, “It is a shocking to see her in this way. She was good in studies and cultural activities,” she said.
As the opposition BJD and the Congress hit the streets, former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday demanded the intervention of the Governor.

Chief Minister Majhi, who visited the hospital, told the officials that he could be taken to Delhi for treatment if needed. However, doctors say that he is not in a position to be airlifted.
The National Commission for Women has also taken cognizance of the matter and directed the Odisha DGP to ensure “fair and timely investigation”.
