The Congress on Friday attacked the NDA government on the recent murder of five members of a family on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Purnia district of Bihar and alleged that “Jungle Raj” was prevalent under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
The opposition party also demanded a time to time in the fast-track court against all the accused involved in the murder of five people.
Vikrant Bhuria, president of the All India Tribal Congress, alleged that people in Bihar are neither getting drinking water nor security, but alcohol is easily available.
Earlier this month, five people, including three women, were allegedly killed and their bodies were burnt on suspicion of witchcraft in Tetma area under the jurisdiction of Mufasil police station in Purnia district.
A special investigation team (SIT) has been established by the police to nab the absconding accused involved in the brutal murder.

Bhuria recently met the family members of the victim and also arranged a phone call between former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and them.
He said strict laws should be used to prevent crimes such as superstitions, along with punishing the culprits of the incident, as well as ‘crowd lynching’, and liquor sales should be stopped.

Bhuria told reporters, “On Rahul Gandhiji’s instructions, we went to Purnia and met the family personally, but what we saw was very sad. The whole village is empty, there is an atmosphere of fear. Rahul Gandhi himself spoke to the family of the victims.” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sitting in Bihar, is not worried about the family, he asked.
The head of the tribal Congress claimed that the culprits of the murder were intoxicated, and this is a state situation where alcohol has been banned.
He alleged that under the NDA government, ‘Jungle Raj’ and ‘Gundraj’ are prevalent in Bihar, and the state has become the ‘crime capital’ of India.
“Is there no value in the lives of tribals in this country? Why did the criminals not get so much in Bihar? Why are the criminals not afraid of the police and the government? Why are criminals being protected in Bihar? Why is superstition promoted in the BJP government? Why is there nothing about education and security under the BJP government?” He said.
