Hearing a plea alleging harassment on feeding stray dogs, the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the petitioner, “Why don’t you feed them in your house?”

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta was listening to a petition related to the Allahabad High Court order from March 2024. The lawyer said that the petitioner was subjected to harassment and was unable to feed community dogs to the animal birth control rules.

After pointing out issues related to safety and safety of pedestrians on the streets, the Apex Court Bench took a jib on the petitioner’s counsel, asking, “Why do you feed them in your house? No one is stopping you.”

According to Rule 20 of Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, ONUS resident welfare associations are on the bodies of the owners of the apartments and local bodies so that the necessary arrangements can be made to eat under the guise in the area.

The lawyer said that the municipality was building such places in Greater Noida, but not in Noida. He said that people who do not repeatedly feed the people can be made, saying that feeding points can be made in a place which are not repeatedly done by the people.

During a High Court, the petitioner’s counsel demanded the implementation of the rules, in which the Animal ACT, 1960, keeping in mind the provisions of prevention of cruelty.

However, taking into account several examples of stray dog attacks, the bench of Allahabad, however, indicated the concerns of “common man” regarding safety and free movement on the streets.

The High Court directed the officials to settle the petition, while the interest of the people on the streets was not in danger, to ensure that the proper steps to ensure the safety of the stress to take appropriate steps to take appropriate steps.
