In coordination with the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPS), Army and Assam Rifles, on Tuesday, 86 weapons and several rounds of ammunition were recovered in a series of coordinated search operations.
The recovery was done during search operations done in several valley districts, based on specific intelligence in the peripheral and weak areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thubal, Kaking and Bishanupur districts.
Five AK Series Rifles, Three INS Rifles, 16 Self-Locating Rifles (SLR), Five .303 rifle, 19 pistols, two carbines, nine other rifles, 16 SBBL and bore action guns, two anti-anti-guns, a JVPC, a JVPC, a Dabble-Bolt-Affice.
In addition to the firearms, the teams also recovered nine grenades, six high-explosive mortar shells, four doodle explosive equipment (IED), and 41 mixed magazines.
The seized ammunition included 526 live rounds of 7.62 mm, 226 rounds of 5.56 mm, 190 rounds of .303 mm, seven rounds of 9 mm and four rounds of .32 mm. The forces also seized six wireless handsets and two tube launchers.

More than 6,000 weapons were looted from the weapons of the state forces since the ethnic violence erupted in the state in May 2023.
Manipur policeIn a press statement, the operation described the operation as a major success in an attempt to neutralize the network of illegal weapons and restore peace and security in the state. Operation underlines the active approach to prevent close coordination and further violence between security agencies. Police officials confirmed their commitment to continue such focused and intelligence-operated operations, said this.

This is the third important weapon recovery in recent times. On 4 July, the forces seized 203 weapons and explosives during joint search operations in the mountainous districts of Manipur. Earlier, in another operation, 328 weapons and 8,665 mixed ammunition were recovered.
