The Forest Department in Goa has written to the Wildlife Institute (WII) of India to propose wildlife in areas outside the protected areas in Goa to reduce the One-Nimal Conflict. The proposed study will map the struggle areas, identify weak species and existing animal corridors and suggest mitigation measures.

“It is requested that India’s Wildlife Institute can provide the facility of Goa Forest Department with the preparation of a concept note in the state of Goa, including the functioning of the Human-Performance Solution. The financial implications made for the same can be informed as soon as possible to move forward in the greatest interest of wildlife conservation.”

Kamal Dutta, the leading main conservative of the forests, said, “We have written to India’s Wildlife Institute to conduct a systematic study to reduce the human struggle.”
An official of the forest department said: “A systematic evaluation of wildlife has not been made in the state (outside the protected area). The census that is held is limited to the protected areas. Given the forest cover in Goa, the state’s geographical area is more than 60 percent, the wildlife population will not be limited to the protected area only.
