The Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended on Thursday and three others were temporarily suspended after a woman died due to a landslide starting with tireless rains along the Baltal Marg in Genderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, the valley saw heavy heavy rains for about 36 hours, causing dangerous conditions with pilgrimage paths. This is the first time the journey from the Jammu Base Camp this year has been suspended.
PTI reported that the woman died of a falling rock, while others faced injuries in the incident.

Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bhiduri said, “Due to continuous rains in the last two days, the work of restoration on the tracks along with both the routes of both Baltal and Pahgam is necessary.”
However, pilgrims who had already reached the Panjatarni camp are being allowed to move towards Baltal with the support of Border Rhodes Organization (BRO) and Mountain Rescue Teams.
A two -day weather advisory warning of heavy rains for Jammu and Kashmir has been issued, including pilgrimage routes. Officials said the journey is likely to resume on Friday based on the weather conditions.

To facilitate quick restoration, BRO has deployed additional men and machinery on both tracks. So far, 2.47 lakh pilgrims have visited the 3,880 meter high cave temple as the journey began on 3 July.
A total of 1,01,553 pilgrims have departed from Jammu for the Valley as the first batch was dispatched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on 2 July. This year, more than 4 lakh people have registered for the journey this year compared to 5.10 lakh pilgrims visiting pilgrims last year.
