'Flow in India's foreign policy': Congress demand in Parliament debate | Bharat News

The Congress on Thursday accused the NDA government of departing from India’s traditional situation on foreign policy matters without consulting Parliament and called for a “honest introspection” and “course reform” during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma said that “International diplomacy required renovation hours”, and it was “necessary to re -receive India’s stature and stand up in the Committee of the nations”.

The party also took a strong exception to India to prevent the United Nations resolve on the Gaza ceasefire, saying that it was “not only unfortunate, but a painful and unacceptable decision”.

Sharma’s comments came two days later, the Leader of the Opposition in LS Rahul Gandhi criticized India’s current foreign policy after a meeting between Jaishankar and Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier this week.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters, Sharma also said that the Indo-US trade agreement, for which the negotiations are going on, should be done keeping the national interest at the forefront and no trade treaty should be done under pressure.

Sharma said, “It is a matter of serious concern: this is a flow in our foreign policy – a visible decline of India’s influence in the world and the fact that the United Nations was a fundamental departure to stand in the Committee of nations.”

He said, “We were accepted as a pre-eminent power of South Asia and correctly, but no one can say that today and it is to reconsider the strategy for us and to engage in such a way that despite the challenges and complications, India becomes strength and standing in its territory,” he said.
