The first indigenously designed and manufactured diving support Vastal Ins Nistar was commissioned in the Navy on Friday, which was carried out for complex deep-saturation saturation diving and submarine rescue operations-a niche ability which was globally with selected navies.
INS Nistar is the first of the two diving support vessels being made by Hindustan Shipyard Limited.
At the commission ceremony in Visakhapatnam, Tripathi of Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh said that Inse Nistar is not just a technical property, but an important operating originator. “Nistar will provide important submarine rescue support to our regional partners along with the Indian Navy,” he said, “he said that India will be able to emerge as a preferred submarine rescue partner in the region.
He said, “The commission of Nistar is a testimony to the growing capacity and maturity of our marine industrial base, and is another bright example of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
For defense, Mos Sanjay Seth said that 118-meter INS NISTAR’s commission strengthens the role of the Indian Navy as a ‘first respondent’ and ‘preferred security partner’ in the area.

He said, “Swadeshi ship -making industry has been one of the pillars of the government’s Antrifik Bharat Abhiyan,” he said that Ince Nistar’s induction is a technical leap and a milestone in the Indian shipbuilding chapter towards the creation of the force prepared for the future.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on X: “This induction of DSV has been installed with state -of -the -art equipment to perform state -of -the -art diving and disposal operations, as well as acts as a ‘mother ship’ for deep submergence rescue vessel (DSRV), which is for the safety of another match to save from a dubori.”

It can perform diving and disposal operations up to a depth of 300 meters. It will also serve as a ‘mother ship’ for deep submergence ships to protect and vacate personnel from a divers submarine in a thorough crisis below the surface.
With the involvement of 120 MSMEs and incorporating more than 80% indigenous content, there is a statement for India’s ability to manufacture complex ships with INS Nistar international standards, “it said.
