Monsoon above normal but uneven, lack of face of southern India. Bharat News

India has received nine percent more rainfall than this monsoon season so far, but the spread has been uneven.

While some states such as Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Ladakh received more than normal rainfall, many others, especially in the northeastern and southern parts, are facing a major shortage, according to IMD data.

Between 1 June and 16 July, the country received 331.9 mm of rainfall, which is about 9 percent more than the normal rainfall of 304.2 mm for this period.

Jharkhand received 71 percent more rainfall than normal, with 595.8 mm rainfall compared to its normal 348.9 mm. Rajasthan also saw huge growth – 271.9 mm rainfall, which is 116 percent more than normal than normal in 125.6 mm.

Ladakh, which usually receives very low rainfall, is obtained 15.8 mm compared to normal 8 mm, which is 97% above normal. All three are classified as “large additional” rainfall.

Five other states and center areas recorded “additional” rainfall, which means 20 to 59 percent more than normal. These are Haryana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

For example, MP received 470.6 mm rainfall, 67 percent more than normal than normal in 281.3 mm. Gujarat received 388 mm rainfall, which is 64 percent more than normal.
