Police stopped march, Restoration of Jammu and Kashmir state: Congress | Bharat News

An protest march organized by the Congress’s J&K unit, suppressing the demand for restoration of the state in the federal region, was prevented by the police from continuing outside the party headquarters, the Congress said on Saturday.

Under the leadership of Jammu -Congress President Tariq Hameed Karr, along with other leaders like AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir, the party set a march from the party headquarters on MA Road, which was calling the Prime Minister to present a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Lieutenant Governor in the Divisional Commissioner’s office, which was calling for the entire situation to restore.

However, “a heavy police contingent stopped a peaceful march at the party headquarters,” a party statement said.

Accusing the police of using the “Brut Force” to stop the march, Karr said, “We want to take the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for a deaf and silent government. The letter that Rahul (Gandhi) ji and (Mallikrajun) have written to the PM, which is supported by 233 members of India.” He also said that without the intervention of the Congress, the restoration of the state to Jammu and Kashmir would be “impossible”.

The party said Karr suffered minor injuries during a scuffle.

On July 17, Congress chief Mallikrajun Kharge and Lop Rahul Gandhi wrote to the PM, demanding the introduction of the law in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament to provide full state to J&K UT.

Although the party stopped out of exit from the premises, Congress workers protested from behind gates, raised slogans. Subsequently, dozens of Congress workers of the Youth Congress were detained.
