What is the current situation of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project? , Bharat News

Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project: The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is moving rapidly on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. However, the country’s first bullet train will be passed – the center areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The 508-Mm-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is under execution with technical and financial assistance from the Government of Japan.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will have 12 stations-like Mumbai, Thane, Veerar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharach, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.

Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet Train Cost

The total estimated cost of the MAHSR project is Rs 1,08,000 crore (approx). Of these, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is 81% of the cost of the project i.e. Rs. 88,000 crores. The remaining 19% cost ie Rs. The state governments of the Ministry of Railways (50%) and Maharashtra (25%) and Gujarat (25%) will be funded by Rs 20,000 crore through equity contributions. By June 30, by 2025, cumulative financial expenditure of Rs. 78,839/- crores of people have gone on the project.

In the written reply to the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Ashivani Vaishnav said that all civil contracts of the project have been awarded. “Of a total of 28 tender packages, 24 tender packages have been awarded,” he said. The Union Minister further said that the work of the Under-C Tunnel (21kms almost) has also started. “So far, 392 km Pier Construction, 329 km girder casting and 308 km girder launching have been completed,” said Vaishnav.

The Railway Minister also said that there are plans to complete the Gujarat part of the corridor between VAPI and Sabarmati by December 2027. “The entire project (Maharashtra to Sabarmati section) is expected to be completed by December 2029. However, the Bullet Train Project is a very complex and technology intensive project,” he said.
