Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gawai said on Saturday that whether it is a judiciary or executive, “It is our fundamental duty to reach the last citizen of this country, which requires justice.”

CJI Gavai was speaking at an event in Prayagraj.

He inaugurated the newly constructed advocate Chambers and multilevel parking building in the premises of Allahabad High Court. Supreme Court Judge Justice Suryakant, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice JK Maheshwari, Justice Pankaj Mittal, Justice Manoj Mishra, Chief Justice of the High Court of Allahabad, Justice Arun Bhansali, Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present at the event.

Justice Gawai highlighted that in 75 years since adopting the constitution, the judiciary and executive have enacted several laws, which have a very advanced social and economic equality in India. “The land is taken from the landlords and transferred to the people. Farmers have become the right owners of their land. Many such laws have strengthened the working and labor sections of the country.”

Thanking Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Justice accepted the funds provided for this dedicated facility dedicated to the lawyers. He said that the inauguration matches Ahilibai Holkar’s birth anniversary, a person who made social justice champion in India called it a “moment of pride”.

Justice Gawai gave Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s last draft presentation of the Constitution was presented in the Constitution Assembly on 25 November 1949, in which Ambedkar’s speech was described as “guiding beacons for the nation”. He emphasized Ambedkar’s warning that true democracy cannot be established without ending social and economic inequality.

“Today, after 75 years, our executive and judiciary have contributed significantly to achieving social and economic equality across India,” he said.

The CJI commented, “Our Constitution has inspired the country strongly during these 75 years. When the draft of the Constitution was prepared, the critics said that it was very federal. Baba Saheb replied that it is a constitution designed to keep India united and strong, both normal time and either,” said CJI.

He said, “Today, given the situation in our neighboring countries … India is not only moving forward even after 75 years, but is also strong and united in times of crisis. The credit should be given to the Constitution.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in his address at the ceremony, “In the rule of law, the litigator is important as bar and bench.”
