The government on Saturday notified the certification of films to promote age-appropriate viewing, especially for the parents’ guidance group.
In a Gazette notification, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting amended the notified rules in December 1991, which appoints principles to approve films for public exhibition.
Rules allow the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to allow certification of films for a public exhibition with a support according to nature.
“The content suitable for a child of seven years and above with the guidance of parents will be classified for above seven years and below seven years … Children under the age of thirteen and above and thirteen years of age are classified as ‘U/A13+’ … at the age of sixteen years old and over a sixteen years old.
