Senior IRS officer arrested by CBI in a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. Bharat News

The agency said in a statement that a senior Indian Revenue Service officer was arrested on Saturday for accepting and accepting a bribe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

A 2007 batch officer, who is currently serving as Additional Director General in the Directorate of Taxpayer Services in Delhi, was taken into custody from his residence in Vasant Kunj neighborhood of the capital. He is accused of pleading for Rs 45 lakh from a complainant in exchange for favorable treatment from the Department of Revenue and Income Tax.

The CBI, who filed a formal case on 31 May, alleged that the demand for bribe came up with legal action, punitive punishment, and constant harassment, failed to comply with the complainant.

The agency said a trap was set to catch the individuals involved. The spokesman said, “The CBI laid a trap and the accused private person was caught with a red hand, while in Mohali, the accused public servant admitted a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the complainant on behalf of the accused public servant.” “The accused public servant was also arrested from his residence in Vasant Kunj. Later, both the accused were arrested and will be produced before the concerned court.”
