'Corruption, in different degrees, in existence ... will fight it brutally'

Emphasizing his commitment to fight corruption, “ruthless”, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday underlined the reforms made by his government to bring more accountability and transparency.

“The issue of corruption has been in existence for a long time in a different degree, but my government is committed to fighting it brutally … We will firmly compete with corruption,” Fadnavis said on the express Ada in Mumbai.

Underlining the agenda of his government’s good governance, he revealed a decade long plan for the change of Mumbai and Maharashtra. He said that all these reforms were being done to bring administrative efficiency and to prevent decency and corruption.

“I will not allow any corruption in my government. If there is any corruption, it will be dealt with firmly,” he said. Shortly after returning as CM last December, his government focused on e-governance, including end-to-end digitization, he said.

Fadnavis also unveiled details of Mega Infrastructure Projects, including upgradation of suburban rail networks, education at Navi Mumbai Airport and development of medical hubs, impact of Navi Mumbai Airport (Naina) city (Naina) city and another airport near the Wadhavan Port in Palaghar.

He denied that these issues were the results of communal polarization and vote-bank politics.

Responding to another question, he said that he had called for “nationalist forces” to effectively compete with the role of “anarchist forces” during the Lok Sabha elections. “In a democracy, we are used to fight political parties, not anarchist forces.

Saying that help was sought from nationalist forces, such as the Nationalist Swammavak Union (RSS), he said: “Yes, RSS is a nationalist organization. And others are also.”

Placing the police on Tuesday to arrest a 19 -year -old student on a social media post during Operation Sindoor in Bombay High Court, Fadnavis said that his government would follow the court orders. “But I want to tell that when the operation vermilion was running, if someone writes against the army, it naturally provokes strong emotions. Fadnavis also listed some ambitious mega infrastructure projects – from coastal roads to airports, ports and metro railways. “Navi Mumbai Airport will be operational from August. And within six months, the coastal road will be completed,” he said.

Water was being hit by water at an underground metro station in Mumbai earlier this week, Fadnavis said: “Sixteen out of 17 metro stations were left open. There was no problem. There was no problem in one station, only one wall construction work was to be completed by June 10. Due to heavy rains, the water was tolerated.” Saying that the work will be completed soon, he said: “I promise that there will be no reason to complain.”
