Panoli’s arrest has created a political storm in India, in which BJP leaders have demanded immediate release. The party members argue that the student of the law had already removed the controversial video and released forgiveness, and claimed that his arrest constitutes unfair targeting.
The controversy arises from a now-free video in which Panoli allegedly made communal remarks, in which some Bollywood celebrities were accused of keeping Operation Sindoor remaining silent. The video triggers the important backlash, many of which accused him of spreading hatred speeches and threatening him online.

In a public statement, Panoli offered an forgiveness, writing: “I tenders my unconditional apology. Whatever was kept is my personal feelings and I never wanted to deliberately hurt anyone, so if anyone is hurt, I am sorry for the same. I expect cooperative and understanding.
Panoli, a law student of a law at Symbiosis International University, has been adequately followed on social media with about 85,000 followers on X and 90,000 on Instagram. According to Kolkata Police, residents of Anandpur region of Kolkata, they have been charged under classes related to promoting enmity among groups, religious sentiments, deliberate insults, deliberate insults and excitement, reported by PTI.
